Wow. This Ryan is a really stand up guy. Too bad he's fictional.
I loved Ryan. He's sensitive and really mature for his age. I was waiting for him to mess up. To say or do something that would make him the typical teenage boy but that's not him. He thinks before he makes a decision and doesn't jump head first into situations. He really thinks about his actions and doesn't use his little head as his leader. He respects women having grown up with only his mother and grandmother raising him. He cared more about schoolwork and keeping his scholarships through football than parties and girls. He was just a level headed dude. He was perfect.
I'm pretty sure it was the POV but i couldn't stand Maddy. Ryan and her relationship was a total bore. She didn't seem to be putting any effort into it. I just hated recounting their relationship because it hardly was one. That whole part could have been left out of the book because there wasn't any vital information in those pages. He should have just summarized his relationship with her when he got to college and then had their falling out.
Lindsay was nice. Well, not at first. She was very judgemental of Ryan because he's a jock and good-looking. All because of her past and family. I liked her backstory. She was interesting and a definite upgrade from Maddy.
I really liked Ryan's take on college. He was really all business and focused. You dont see that in NA very much, if at all. It was very refreshing.
One thing i wondered about was Corey. He just disappeared and Ryan didn't mention him again after stopping by his mom's.
Overall, this was a light, quick read. And very cute.
This book is part of a series but it can be read as a standalone.
